Monasterevin Community Centre is located at the junction of Main Street and Whelan’s Row. A former R.I.C. barracks, it was gifted to the Monasterevin C.Y.M.S. in 1927. It is a protected structure in the centre of the towns Architectural Conservation Area (ACA).
The “CY” as it is known locally was at one time the heartbeat of the community. Unfortunately it ran into disrepair and was closed for a number of years. Now reopened as Monasterevin Community Centre, it is run by a dedicated committee of volunteers.
Over the last few years there have been major works carried out to bring the centre back to use, but there is still a lot of work to do. The centre is once again becoming an important part of life in Monasterevin and is getting busier all the time.
